Incase you missed this in Sex Ed 🌸

We've put together a list of things they definitely should've taught us about vulvas, labia's & women's health. Little facts we wish we knew when we were younger, so sharing some light on our most beautiful, feminine and unique part of our female bodies.

1 - Your vulva is not your vagina.

The vagina is internal.

The vulva is everything you can actually see. The vulva is a very sensitive and absorbent part of your body. It is very important to consider what fabrics you support her with in your every day life.

We chose Organic Bamboo at Jaymes as it is a moisture wicking natural fibre (unlike Cotton that will trap moisture and heat) Bamboo will keep your Vulva dry, healthy and fresh all day long 🌸

2 - Labia's come in all shapes, sizes and colours.

There is no "perfect" vulva. All vulva's are "normal", beautiful and uniquely you 🐱

In the Jaymes Office we display our fav book 'Flip through my flaps' An exploration of the vulva by Ellie Sedgwick 🌸

3 - Discharge is completely normal.

It's your body's way of cleaning and protecting itself. Your discharge colour and consistency can tell you a lot about your vaginal health, it is completely normal to have discharge 🌸

4 - Your vulva is self-cleaning.

It doesn't need perfumes, sprays, washes or "feminine" products. You need to be very careful with what you use in this very delicate area. Harsh products full of fragrance and chemicals can cause Itching.

5 - Itching isn't always thrush.

It can be irritation from synthetic fabrics, soaps, detergents or tight clothing. Ditching synthetic underwear is the first change you can make to help prevent recurring thrush symptoms.

6 - Your cycle affects more than your period.

Energy, mood, sleep, digestion and libido can all change throughout the month.

7 - Pain isn't something you're supposed to just put up with.

Heavy periods, severe cramps and pain during intimacy deserves attention.

8 - Your vulva changes throughout your life.

Puberty, pregnancy, postpartum and menopause all bring changes. It is normal to see your vulva evolve with the big changes in your life. It's a beautiful reflection of life 🌸

9 - The healthiest vulva doesn't smell like flowers.

It smells like a vulva. And that's completely normal. We shouldn't be spraying ourselves with fragrance or using fragrance filled creams that will upset our natural oils and irritate our vulva's.

We hope these facts bring you some piece of mind like it did for us 🌸
